The court today offered rulings in four separate cases. They haven’t been posted online yet, so I’ll talk about what we know as of 10:30 EST. The cases were announced between 10:00 and 10:30am EST.

1) Home Builders v. Defenders of Wildlife- 5-4 written by Alito
2) Hein v. Freedom from Religion- 5-4 written by Alito — argues that taxpayers do not have standing to sue executive for spending on faith-based initiatives
3) Wilkie v. Robbins- 7-2 written by Souter
4) Morse v. Fredricks (Bong Hits 4 Jesus)- 5-4 (6-3?) written by Roberts- ruled against the student. Held that school officials are not in violation of the law when they punish students for pro-drug messages. A lot of people expected Morse to win on his rights but lose because of questionable qualified immunity grounds. According to the SCOTUSBlog post, it looks like he lost on his rights.

edit: 10:34- 5) FEC v. Wisconsin Right to Life was also decided. Roberts wrote the opinion. Souter is reading his dissent.
