Foreign PolicyForeign Policy magazine, the publishing branch of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, released its 2007 Failed States Index. Sudan is the state currently in the most peril and is followed closely by Iraq, Somalia, Zimbabwe, and Chad. Congo made major strides toward stability, although it could be argued that it is simply moving farther away from complete political and economic insecurity. Apparently religious intolerance has some correlation to instability and the data is somewhat convincing.
