My Del.icio.us

Whenever I read oral arguments, I search for certain key words to see how often they are mentioned. In the oral argument for Hein v. Freedom From Religion I found some interesting facts.

The Number of times each member spoke:
Scalia: 55
Roberts: 31
Breyer: 24
Ginsburg: 12
Alito: 7
Souter: 5
Kennedy: 4
Stevens: 2
Thomas: 0

There were 8 mentions of laughter. Justice Breyer made a pretty funny, politically correct joke about how brilliant he is. Justice Scalia made fun of Jews, Christians, and their love for bagels.

Justice Souter only spoke a few times, but each time his question was intelligent, insightful, and probing. And boring.
